THE NEWS BELOW IS OLD!!!
(2003)

December 18, 2003 - 00:10

Rocket Duel!

Except from playing some nice missions with the whole team (only Mr.Wizard was not able to get his TeamSpeak connection operational), we also tried some Last Man Standings. First we used regular weapons, then shotguns, after a while we switched to 5 shot Taurus raging Bull .44 Magnum revolvers but we ended with... Rockets! And you know what? It ROCKS! :-)

This was SO cool... We had a great time. Almost forgetting we just successfully finished mission 8 and 9 of the campaign.

And Talek? He was present, en almost begged us to play again some time soon! So that sounds promising...

December 9, 2003 - 19:45

'Talek'

That's the name of the "...mysterious '6th' player..." mentioned below... I added him to the members-section as a recruit, because he showed very much interest to play a lot more!

December 4, 2003 - 16:30

Guess what?

Hoppin' just send me a screenshot of last night's game, and requested 'something funny'. Well, here it is!

December 3, 2003 - 23:45

6 Players tonight!

Who could've thought... 6 players online, and it worked out pretty good! We played several original missions, had some fun with firefights and even tried 3 vs 3 players as teams...

Who is this mysterious '6th' player you might ask? A former colleague of Hoppin, and quite a good shot too... A new wannabe member? Well, maybe that's a little too fast, but we all enjoyed!

And I almost forgot: Azzie's first time as Team-leader! After destroying 4 tanks at the bridge-level and his rifle platoon taking out the entire Russian group guarding the bridge, I can safely say that was a success too... :-) Congrats!

And me? Being sick, that's me... My throat hurts like hell. Just had to say what's hurting me. Or you guys say I'm sick in the head. And I do not disagree on that either.

Anyway, ... Who's gonna be there next time? You?

December 1, 2003 - 22:45

Teamshot!

I found this picture of all team members (and Co.) during some top-secret paintball-mission :-)

November 20, 2003 - 00:45

Wednesday Night Game

Last night we played again, unfortunately Wizard was unable to join us, but the rest of us was there. Since we are playing the original missions in the correct order, we played Mission 5: Gold Mountain. (Better known as 'embassy). I enjoyed, although it took us 2 retries and a lot of respawns.. Gotta work on that! Wednesday Night in two or three weeks again?

November 17, 2003 - 01:25

Caution!

Be warned for any unexpected (natural?) disasters just waiting to happen in your neighborhood, like (for example) an:

November 16, 2003 - 20:30

This Wednesday...

...we will play again! Be sure you'll be there, right in place, and let's rock!

November 7, 2003 - 01:40

Welcome

I'm proud to officially announce that - after his impressive performance the last time(s) we played - Festuco is now an official member of the clan! Hail, hail! :-)

So now we have a sniper, a support gunner, a leader and enough more cannon fodder... ;-p

November 5, 2003 - 23:55

Kick-Ass!

Hoppin's comment on tonight... We finally, finally, played Ghost Recon again! With 4 people! Hoppin' Raven, WarGOD, Azatoth and our wannabe sniper: Festuco. Or soon to be clan-member we hope! Wizard planned to be playing to, but encountered some communication problems, wich will soon be solved.

We played the first 4 missions as a team, with warGOD acting as team lead, and Festuco as sniper. We only used 'standard' weapons. Awesome! Really, I enjoyed this very much, and would like to play again some time soon! We heroically saved each others lives over and over again, we tried some other-than-usual weaponry and enjoyed the evening. Thanks to all that were playing!

October 28, 2003 - 13:15

AK Power! AK Power!

Azatoth is no longer a Kalashnikov-virgin! In other words, we shot the bitch a hundred times or so... :-) And loved it! Okay, I have to admit Azzie went crazy with 30 rounds in the clip, but hey: Give the guy a break! This is almost better than... well... uh... skip it :-p

You can find new pictures online, including the one below. (Yes, it's me...) If you want movies of what we did, just E-Mail me...

October 25, 2003 - 11:40

Encyclopedia?

I put another 40 or so pictures online on my personal page in the past two weeks, for a stunning total of 112 now! And growing! I like it, especially with pictures like the one below... (Look at it here)

I also registered our site as a .tk-domain. You can now easily reach the site by simply typing 'warmonkeys.tk' in your browser. You can also register your personal page, if you do so, please let me know and I'll update the site for you. You can find me (for example) at: 'myweapons.tk'

October 20, 2003 - 19:00

Magnum Power!

Click the picture below to see how Azatoth and I spend the afternoon...

No, this is not dangerous, in fact, this is quite normal. The human eye usually doesn't even see this, but I captured it on film (well... digital) by accident. Cool! The weapon is a Ruger GP100 revolver, loaded with .357 Magnum ammunition. You can find more pictures of this same and many other firearms on my personal page.

October 15, 2003 - 20:40

Sniper's Creed

Not much to tell, I added 'Sniper's Creed' to the 'Various'-section, and we played a lot of Raven Shield. Now with Azatoth too! And I am seriously posting at a dutch Airsoft-forum, I can explain more another time. Too bad we can't play it in this small(-minded?) country...

October 06, 2003 - 23:45

What's better than shooting? Shooting with your friends!

Today was a great day! Azatoth joined our local shooting club - just like I did. We made extensive use of an Heckler & Koch Mark 23 SOCOM .45 ACP pistol, a Heckler & Koch USP in the same caliber, an M1 .30 M1 Carbine and a Glock 17. This last weapon mainly because I was wearing my new "GSG-9" T-Shirt... :-)

You can find the pictures on my and Azatoth's personal pages, and I'm thinking of uploading some (small) movies of us shooting various pistols, Kalashnikov's, etc. Enjoy!

Meet a 'new friend':

This is Oleg, a frequent visitor of the shooting range. He works as a security guard at an UN building. He's originally from Russia, and used to be in the military with some kind of SWAT-team. And my god, this guy not even knows a bit about Russian weapons... He used 'em all! You might understand we can talk for hours about Dragunov rifles, silencers for Makarov pistols, GP-25 underbarrel 40mm grenade launchers, AKM, PKM, AK-47 and AK-74 assault rifles, muscle-memory gun-training, etc, etc...

And his favorite weapon of all? Well - being the modest guy that he is - an RPG-7. WOW!

October 01, 2003 - 16:30

Personal Pages Galore!

I finally added some buttons in the 'member'-section, to connect you to our personal pages. I also added a 'Back to the War Monkey's Ghost Recon Clan Page'-button on every page - very clever, huh! :-)

Secondly, I added a list (at my personal page) of all the weapons I ever shot in my life. Well, at least I listed the firearms! This because people were sometimes a little confused wether I shot ALL of the pictured weapons or just took the pictures... (What do YOU think! Lock 'n Load!)

September 25, 2003 - 00:25

Euh... Maybe NOT!

Personally, I think this is NOT the way to do it in a situation like that! But then again, who am I... Read the full story!

'...A pint-sized soldier with thick-rimmed, army-issue glasses, Barnaby, also believes he has protection from above. "I feel like I could go out there with no protective gear," he said. "They could shoot a thousand rounds and they still would not kill me."'

September 22, 2003 - 01:25

Small Arms and Individual Equipment Lessons from Operation Iraqi Freedom

Follow this link to read a report by the U.S. Military about how satisfied (or not) American soldiers were with their equipment. It contains some great info, like an overall dissatisfaction about the stopping power of the 9mm round fired from their M9 sidearm (better known as the Beretta 92F) and the great performances of the .50cal Machine gun and Barret M82A1 sniper rifle... :-)

Including great quote's like:
"My spotter positively identified a target at 1400 meters carrying an RPG on a water tower. I engaged the target. The top half of the torso fell forward out of the tower and the lower portion remained in the tower." --325th PIR Sniper

September 14, 2003 - 23:59

Nothing special, really

I updated my personal page a lot of times since it came online, and added several spicey pics of an AK-47, SiG 551 and me :-)

I was fortunate enough to shoot a Kalashnikov AK-47 last week (semi-automatic), and I can tell you, she's a bitch! Possibly the ruggest weapon one can find, it almost invites you to treat 'her' rough...

And last but not least, as a follow-up my last post: Be warned! Don't play Raven Shield 'till 4 o'clock in the morning! :-) Bad for your health! (But what a fun... Thankee Hoppin' Raven!)

September 9, 2003 - 22:10

Before Ghost Recon, there was...

Our empty lives? Not really... Well, I mean, yes, but there was also Rainbow Six :-) I think this is the game I played most in my entire life! And especially the second part, Rogue Spear. This one, together with Urban operations. Later Red Storm Entertainment released Ghost Recon.

The Rainbow Six series of games is entirely different. It's mainly indoors and has no full-scale military operations. It's a team of international anti-terrorist operators, the idea originated from Tom Clancy's best-selling book-series. CQB is the word!

It's a class of it's own. I won't say I like GR more than RS, or the other way around. They just offer different kinds of gameplay, and daing so, they allow different kinds of fun! Click the banner below for the official site, or go to www.theplatoon.com/ravenshield for more info and screenshots.

September 4, 2003 - 23:20

Extraordinary gentleman: The SR-47!

Already available in Ghost Recon in Earl's fantastic 'Standard Upgrade'-mod, but not widespread known, is the Knight's Armament SR-47. Only six or so are available to U.S. Special Forces in Afghanistan. I uploaded some more info on the M4-variant shooting the AK's bullets!

Read the full text here, and you'll find info like: "The weapons are based on the M-4/M-4A1 carbine variants of the M-16 assault rifle family, but fire the 7.62 x 39mm Soviet-designed cartridge and magazines used in the AK-47 assault rifle." "He highlighted the advantages of the 7.62mm size round for close-quarter battle (CQB) operations." "This particular 7.62 x 39mm is probably the most accurate 7.62 x 39mm in the world because it's got a really fine free-floated barrel." Cool!

September 3, 2003 - 00:10

My attribution to the Worldwide Waste of Webspace

I finally managed to add a lot of photo's to my personal page, so I decided to publish it tonight. Actually, it was ready yesterday, but I wanted to let the "Oooohs" and "Aaaaahs" about Azatoth's page fade away first... :-) Let's just say it has something to do with marketing. Hahaha... :-p

Click this link to visit Wargod's personal page. Have fun!

September 1, 2003 - 23:10

Azatoth's little kingdom

Oke, you beat me... I'm gonna fix a link to it in the 'Members'-section too, but by clicking this link below you can now already access Azatoth's personal page! Yeaaahhh! Mine is coming too, so beware... :-)

September 1, 2003 - 18:00

Personal Page

I received some text and pictures from Azatoth, and added them to his personal page. Those who should know, know where to look. If he likes it, I'll publish it, and he'll probably be the first member to have his personal page online. Unless I beat him of course... :-)

September 1, 2003 - 12:45

Good excuse... Two times!

It's been a long time since I had a valid excuse for not updating the site... I was on vacation, and 'Yes', I enjoyed... Thank you!

I added a small .txt-file to the 'Various'-section, which reports about U.S. Army crews using confiscated Kalashnikov assault rifles as personal weapons... Some say because of a shortage on M-16 rifles, others say because these soldiers just prefer the AK! Read it here.

August 14, 2003 - 01:00

Personal Webspace

Right now we are considering making a personal webpage for every clanmember. Just so you can share anything you like with the world. This is still an idea though, I wonder what you guys think of it. As we speak, there are NO links to the pages.

We played a nice game tonight, as we do on a regular basis, but I wonder if I can consider that 'news'. The only thing I can think of is the added quote's, and the recent change of Azatoth's 'Preferred Primary Weapons' choice at the 'Members'-section.

Oh, and did anybody see that I changed my 'smiley'? It has a SOPMOD now! :-)

August 7, 2003 - 21:30

Website's...

Besides from the fact that I keep updating the 'Quotes'-and 'Links'-sections without mention so in this spot, I wanted to show you two more things.

First of all, the Official Ubisoft Ghost Recon Website has been updated. Honestly, I do not really like it. I already discovered some mistakes, and the screenshots are SO outdated... (Thank God for the MOD-community!). See for yourself.

Secondly, I added a small link at the 'Members'-section. It leads to a page with some samples of my digital photography hobby. Basically just snapshots, nothing special, but go take a look and if you do (or do not!) like 'em, tell me so :-) (Link)

[ BTW, One of the new quotes: "It is human nature to stab others in the back to gain an advantage in life. It is not my nature to stab others in the back, nonetheless, I will stab others to see if my blade is sharp." ]

July 30, 2003 - 23:30

Changes to make?

I would like to show you something... Just click this link. Nice, huh! You can check the most recent update here. Or you simply use the button on the left :-)

But something entirely different now.

We played some more games with Festuco, and we've decided to make a couple of changes.

First of all, warGOD and Hoppin' Raven are going to make a very basic set of 'rules'. Simple ROE (Rules Of Engagement). You may look forward to these next week. As a result, serious gameplay should be easier, and teamwork improved. And, as stated by several clan members, It will certainly add to the fun!

And second:

(This soldier is NOT saying: "What the f#ck is taking that damn pizzaboy so long to get here?" He is fighting his way through Baghdad...)

July 22, 2003 - 00:15

Good game!

First of all, we played a lot of good games tonight! Although we had some starting problems, it all turned out to be a nice gaming-night. Thanks for the invitation Azatoth! Personally, I liked the sniper map best. I just love it! I also liked the Harntox HX4 'Rambo'-concept, too bad it didn't last for long when we tried... :-(

Second, I added a second sniper-poem to the 'Various'-section. go check it out here.

And third and final for today, I am thinking of adding some more information to the 'Members'-section. Maybe even a whole page for everybody! A personal place, to tell something more about yourself, maybe a nice picture... Tell me if you like it. I can build the page for you, if you want to, or help you out creating it yourself.

July 21, 2003 - 17:00

Changes to come

It has been long since I updated this site. Too long. Today I started to change some minor details, but I'm still trying to create a better overall layout. I also want to add some more 'real-life'-stuff, like the pictures in the headers. Please tell me what you think.

I shot my first shotgun today! A Winchester Model 1300 Marine Stainless. A beauty... and a BITCH! Damn, that recoil is NICE! You can see me posing with it here :-)

I also uploaded a picture of the next generation U.S. Army assault rifles series, the XM-8. It looks just like a H&K G36! On the internet there is an extensive discussion about this two weapons. Some consider the G36 to be one of the best rifles around, others tell stories of a lot of problems, and they prefer the Steyr AUG and some others. Time will tell. (Remember this is not the OICW, which is also designed by H&K, but meant to be equipped by only on or to members of a rifle squad. It's also very expensive, heavy and needs batteries to work properly, so it is not likely to be chosen by the Marines, Special Forces, i.e.).

June 4, 2003 - 23:30

Sniper!

Tonight was the big moment. Again. Yet another soon-to-be team-member (?) played along, and he proofed to be a real addition :-) A sniper to watch your back always comes in handy...

Some moments were quite memorable, like starting the first mission with all five hiding in a closed toilet (and me having a screenshot to proof it). We did things smooth and easy, and even playing with a loose command structure solved the mission's problem. Personally, I would love to try this again some time soon!

Of course I updated the 'Members'-section. Please drop me an E-Mail if you'd like something changed. Anything!

May 29, 2003 - 14:00

NedStat

I added a small icon to the left, just under 'contact the webmaster'. It connects to my (our) NedStat' account. Here you'll find how many pageviews our pages got 'till now. My own views are being tracked as well, so there'll probably be more views then expected, but that's me working on the page, updating and reviewing it. Now I will find a way to make this site known by several search engines and maybe we'll even get some foreign visitors ;-)

And I updated the 'Quotes'-section with some quotes (Aliens, Black Hawk Down). Thanks Raven!

Finally (for today) I also put in one more picture. Go see the 'Gallery'-section. Enjoy!

May 29, 2003 - 12:30

Welcome [WM] Wizard!

Guess I gave it away now... It has finally been decided, Wizard has officially joined the "War Monkey's!" Welcome my friend, and have a good time... Just don't kill us too often with your beloved explosives :-)

Of course I changed the 'Members'-section accordingly, click this link to go there, and you will find another surprise...

Raven, I made just a minor adjustment to your part, can you find it? Hope you like it! If anybody else would like to change something like 'favourite primary/secondary weapon', their picture, or anything else, just drop me an E-Mail.

WarGOD Out.

May 27, 2003 - 22:50

Update

During the last month I updated the 'Quotes'-section a couple of times, without mentioning this, so check them on a regular basis. You might as well learn something from the 'Wise Quotes'-part...

Today I put something online I should have done a long time ago: The official Ranger Creed!

And we played with Wizard again tonight, he's gaining skills, (un)fortunately :-) 2 Teams is great, next week we'll try 5 people! Let's see if we can work on our team-tactics, with a true sniper added.

Hoppin' Raven, did you order the Rangershop.de catalog yet? Azatoth did - and enjoyed! So what are you waitin' for! Go get it!

May 7, 2003 - 08:20

Links

Just before heading off to work, I added some links. The first new one is "Military Morons", a site by a guy who collects all kinds of military stuff, preferably exactly the same equipment the real guys use... He shoots real weapons (of course), uses airsoft and even trains with the local SWAT-Team. What more can a guy wish for! (He even outfitted his wife like a Delta Force trooper...)

The other two are sites where you can order stuff. I ordered the free, 340 page catalog from Rangershop.de, received it a week later, and it kicks ass! I wanna buy their whole collection of 'flecktarn'! So be sure sure to order your one NOW :-)

May 6, 2003 - 22:30

New section! Quotes!

I've been quite a busy man tonight! Added a whole new section! I collected a lot of funny, military and/or otherwise interesting quotes, and you can see 'em here. Or simply visit the 'Various'-section, and click the 'Quotes'-button. I actually did this because I want some more input from others... So feel free to mail me more quotes! (Even I have more, but I need some 'backup' for updating the site... Shouldn't take another 2 months of silence, you know :-)

May 4, 2003 - 13:30

NATO Alphabet

I Added a small document to the 'Various'-section, listing the current (and older version of the) NATO-alphabet. I say: Let's stick to the current one! (Nice to see how they refer to these in older movies, for example Saving Private Ryan, having a 'Fox-', 'Baker-' and a 'Dog'-Company)

May 2, 2003 - 13:30

And another update already!

I already started rebuilding the 'Members'-section in March. I just couldn't get it right! Being the simple man that I am, I use Ms Frontpage to create and modify this site, and as any other Microsoft program, it sucks. Which -of course - doesn't stop me from using it... Anyway, I  rebuilt it today, from scratch, and you can take a look at it here. As you can see, I added 'Wizard' as a recruit (Doesn't really mean anything, but still, it gave me something to do :-).

Next on my wishlist is a gallery of the best pictures I have of real Special Forces and weapons, an online clanguide (Raven?), mod reviews, and so on. Enough to get me thru the long winter! ("It's summer warGOD." "Damn!")

May 2, 2003 - 12:00

No! I did NOT forget about the website!

I just...euh... ignored it's existence? Or something like it? I've been so busy lately... My girlfriend, my family, friends, new games... Did I mention Rainbow Six: Raven Shield yet? This game kicks ass! Now that Raven finally bought it, we can look forward to many more hours of MP-action! Speaking of which, we played quite a lot, but not 3 times a week. We had another game session with 'Wizard', and enjoyed the fun. We are still looking for more members, but on the other hand, Raven initiated to create a set of rules to use while playing. Clear orders, a command structure, tactics, stuff like that. Well, he's very welcome! Bring 'em on!

Somehow I suddenly felt like working on the site again. So expect to see some improvements, maybe even a new section, and as always: Please gimme your feedback!

March 15, 2003 - 02:20

Finally!

We finally managed to play with 4 people! 'Wizard', an enthusiast  new player, accompanied us on several missions, including some fierce HX4 ambushes, and the merciless game type last man standing. Personally, I think he did well! A new member perhaps? :-) I'm very tired now, we spend 5 1/2 hours working on our teamskills (or not...). warGOD Out.

March 13, 2003 - 23:50

Minor changes...

Being the boring character that I am, I just changed two minor things at the 'members'-section. I think Azatoth will be most pleased... Second, I would like to ask for more input. Please mail me any ideas! And third, today is my girlfriend's birthday... She's 26 now. so, "Happy Birthday Wanda!" (And Raven, check the 'various'-section for your latest addition to 'You know when...' :-)

February 28, 2003 - 11:20

Oops...

No, I did not forget about the site, but I chose to do a lot of different things... Of course my girlfriend, but right now I'm at home, sick! (Yeah, that's just like 'ill' but believe me, I'm really 'sick'... Mwoehahaha!) I just added a part to the 'various' section titled: '10 Reasons why handgunning is better than woman'. Hope you like it. And yes, there's a lot more work to be done. I will free some time to do so. warGOD out.

February 5, 2003 - 18:45

Thumb-business

I changed the thumbnails. Period.

February 5, 2003 - 16:00

Yeeeeeeaaahhhh!

The Gallery is ONLINE! Please let me know what you think, AND make sure I can update this page over and over again... By making more of these superb screenies! And if you want to submit a description, feel free to do so as well.

February 5, 2003 - 13:59

Pfoe!

I've been working on the 'Gallery' as promised, after several hours it's partly ready. Right now I'm leaving for the shooting range to do some real shooting, but I'll finish it as soon as possible...
(BTW, Nice move Azatoth, finding the 'secret' page first... Don't tell anybody! Mwoehahaha!)

February 4, 2003 - 01:50

:-)

Nothing really special today, added one more link (prop site) and corrected a few small problems. I also put a file online that translates the Russian ingame voices, you can find it in the 'Various' section.  Maybe tomorrow I'll start a whole new part of the site (the gallery?), but for now, I'm gonna sleep. Oh, and just in case you stumble across a part of this site you did not know of, please tell me :-)   *Evil Grin*

February 3, 2003 - 22:15

Too busy!

Oke, I know, I have not been working on the site for days... And YES, that has something to do with my previous update (especially the 'kissing'-part) ;-P

For tonight, I'll update the 'Links'-page and correct some errors, redirect a couple of 'not-yet-working'  buttons and things like that. I'll keep you posted! (Hoppin' Raven, your quotes have been changed too)

January 29, 2003 - 23:59

Links

Well... I did not really change a lot. I have been working on some new banners though, but I spend most of the evening kissing... ;-) Which I prefer! Anyway, there is an (early version of a) 'Links'-page online, so go check it out. And if I missed one: Mail me!

January 29, 2003 - 03:00

Members at three o' clock...

It's three o' clock in the night... I'm so tired! I added a new 'Members'-section, see for yourself how you like it... And please let me know!

January 28, 2003 - 18:45

I've been working pretty hard!

Added one more button ("But what's the use if they're not working?" "Arghhh... Shut up! You critic!") labelled 'Various'. In this section, wich IS available online, you'll find some nice texts. Well, gotta go now (They are waiting!).

January 28, 2003 - 14:50

Home early...

I'm home early today... Tonight we will play GR! But first I want to work on the site... ;-) Please note that the buttons on the left do not work (yet).

January 27, 2003 - 21:30

Finally started building this site!

I know, I know... I should have done this a long time ago! But quit complaining, it's coming full force... Feel free to contact me with ANY comments! Since I'm not perfect ("Really?" "Yeah, really...") I can use every bit of help.

To be continued
